Who:
Currently, PHAP has more than 375 public health associates fulfilling hands-on workforce needs in public health agencies and organizations across 44 states, 2 US territories, and the District of Columbia.
After completing the program, PHAP graduates will be qualified for jobs with public health agencies and non-governmental public health organizations and will be uniquely prepared to pursue an advanced degree in public health.
What:
PHAP is a competitive two-year training program for early-career public health professionals who are employed by CDC but work directly in state, tribal, local, and U S territorial public health organizations; community-based organizations; public health institutes and associations; academic institutions; and CDC quarantine stations. Associates develop valuable career skills and receive on-the-job training that will allow them to become well-rounded public health professionals.

What can you do to help?:
Here are a few ways in which we encourage you to help us find qualified candidates:
- Reach out to recent bachelor’s- and master’s-level graduates who are interested in a career in public health, or health in general, and encourage them to apply. This may include the individuals you are currently mentoring!
- Be sure to share the information NOW!! This will allow time in December for potential candidates to update their resumes etc. to prepare for the January 3-9 submission window!
- We all graduated from somewhere, right?! Consider contacting your alma maters to help spread the word about PHAP and the application window.
- Schools of Public Health, Nursing, and Health Sciences, to name a few…
- Most have an Career Coordinator whose contact information can be found on the school website
- University Career Resource Centers are often open to receiving the announcement

- Do you know anyone who is a professor at a university and would be open to sharing the opportunity with their students? Feel free to forward it along!
- What about any public health or health education organizations you are a member of?! Some of these organizations offer their membership access to a job board on which the announcement can be posted.

Regarding PHAP Host Sites:
- Because of the volume of excellent host site applications PHAP receives each year, the PHAP program does not need any additional assistance with host site application recruitment.
