Alianza Latina Pro-Educación en Salud (ALPES)

Alianza Latina Pro-Educación en Salud (ALPES) is an alliance of concerned community members and agency representatives committed to improving the health and quality of life of Latinos living in Wake County.
ALPES welcomes new members. ALPES Bi-Monthly Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the following months; February, April, June, August, October, December from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm in the conference room of the Wake County Millbrook Human Service Center, located at 2809 E Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC 27604.
Members of ALPES act as advocates for the Latino Community in Wake County, NC. We meet monthly to share information and ideas, learn about challenges facing Latinos locally and programs that are available to Latinos.
Mission: To improve the health and quality of life of Latinos living in Wake County.
Vision: To become a catalyst for health promotion and quality of life efforts in the Latino community. ALPES brings individuals, agencies and community partners together to effectively work on strategies to achieve the well being of Latinos in Wake County.

Membership: We welcome a diverse membership whose skills, expertise, and personal experiences promote ALPES mission and goals. Members may be part of faith-based organizations, community-based organizations, academic institutions, health organizations, local government entities and community representatives. We aspire to have members that reflect the nationalities, socioeconomic and ethnic composition of the local Latino community. Non-Latinos who wish to serve as advocates for the Latino community are also welcome.

- To reduce health disparities among Latinos in Wake County.
- To provide culturally and linguistically effective technical assistance and capacity building to member organizations.
- To serve as a link between community partners, non-profit organizations and resource opportunities.
- To develop community based strategies that can be used to address Latinos health and quality of life disparities.
- To provide a forum for the development of lay community leaders through active participation in ALPES.
